Material for plumbing pipes shall be as per Plumbing Codes. Material mostly used for drainage system are Polyethylene, PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) and UPVC (Un-plasticize Polyvinyl Chloride) and HDPE (High Density Polyethylene). These materials have smooth surfaces and less cost and easily available. Roof drains are made up of cast iron, copper, lead, plastic, or other approved corrosion – resisting material. Water piping for the distribution of hot and cold water within building shall be of material listed in Plumbing Codes. Most commonly used material for water supply pipes is CPVC(Chlorinated Poly Vinyl Chloride, PP-R (Polypropylene) and PB (Polybutylene). CPCV stands for chlorinated polyvinyl chloride which is a polymer of hydrocarbon. CPVC is light weight, non-toxic, high mechanical properties and has low friction and low thermal concavity.
